Purpose

What this handout is designed to support.

A boundary describes your own participation or response. It is different from trying to control another person's choices.

How to use it

  • Describe the situation without global judgments
  • State the limit or need briefly
  • Choose a proportionate action you can realistically follow
  • Prioritize safety planning over direct confrontation in abusive or controlling situations
